What we do
The work below is what a recovery actually consists of. Most engagements involve all of it, in roughly this order.
Managing the response
From the first day we take charge of the response and hold it together: what happens now, what happens this week, who is doing it, and what the board needs to decide.
You get a single point of contact and a clear picture of where the recovery stands, rather than a stream of separate demands arriving from every direction.
Handling loss adjusters, banks, landlords and lawyers
After a loss, a queue forms. The insurer appoints a loss adjuster. The bank wants to understand the exposure. The landlord has views on the building. Lawyers, authorities and compliance officers each have their own requirements and their own deadlines.
We deal with them on your behalf. That means preparing what each one needs, holding them to their own timescales, and keeping their demands off the desks of the people running the company.
Protecting gross profit
The damage visible on site is rarely the largest loss. The larger loss is usually the trading the business cannot do while it recovers, and that figure grows every week the recovery drifts.
We work to keep the business trading through the disruption and to capture the trading impact accurately, so that what is recovered reflects what was actually lost.
Investigating what happened
An accurate account of the incident is the foundation for everything that follows: the claim, any liability, and any recovery from a third party. Evidence is easiest to secure early and often impossible to reconstruct later.
We establish what happened, document it properly, and identify where responsibility sits.
Establishing liability and funding
We then work out who pays. Insurance is one possible source of funds. Others include a third party at fault, a contractor, a supplier, a landlord, or an obligation already written into a contract.
We identify every available source, and pursue them in the order most likely to get money into the business soonest.
Blue skies thinking
Once the immediate response is stable, there is a decision to make about what the business becomes. Rebuilding exactly what was there before is a choice, not a default, and it is worth making it consciously.
We help you look at that question while the options are still open.
